Beef production in Argentina recovered 7.7% in 2017 compared to the previous year due to an increase in the number of animals slaughtered. Likewise, per capita beef consumption stood at 58.4 kg / year, which in annual terms means an improvement of 5.6%, reported the Chamber of Industry and Trade in Meat and Derivatives (Ciccra).
According to the last monthly report of the 2017 of the industrial entity, to the domestic market 161,6 thousand tn r / c / h were delivered more than in 2016, that is to say 79,3% of the increase of the volume offered by the industry.
"In 2017 the total slaughter reached 12.6 million heads, being 7.6% higher than in 2016 and becoming the second highest in the last eight years", detailed in the report.
The slaughter of females represented 44.2% of the total, having contributed the most to the recovery of sectoral activity in relation to a year ago. For its part, the slaughter of males grew 5.2% per year. In addition, the participation of the females in the total slaughter was equivalent to 42.9% in the average of 2017.
The total domestic consumption of beef would have risen to 2.57 million t / yr / hr in fiscal year 2017, concentrating 90.4% of the total marketed by the refrigeration industry. Likewise, the (apparent) consumption of beef per inhabitant stood at 58.4 kg / year in 2017. In annual terms it registered an improvement of 5.6%..
